How did the resident hear about The Savoy: Judy’s sister heard good things about the Savoy from a friend whose mother had a very positive experience.
Details of experience:
Judy was admitted to the Savoy on June 5th, 2023, after being released from Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, following a right leg amputation that was a result of an infection she incurred from a bad fall.
Instantly, Judy saw exactly what made the Savoy different from every other facility. She instantly met with the kind and caring staff of the Savoy, making her feel as comfortable as possible in this very difficult time in her life. After being admitted to the Savoy, Judy felt relieved as the nursing and therapeutic staff treated her much better than she was treated in a different skilled nursing facility she had previously been in. She noted that the two aides she had in her first two weeks kept her feeling positive and made it clear she had a team cheering her on. Judy fondly recalls how her roommate for the first few days helped cheer her up and encouraged her to see the good in her situation. She is still very good friends with her roommate and the friendship has helped make her experience at the Savoy positive. Judy’s original goal for herself was to eventually walk without assistance.
After some time passed, her personal goals and care plan was modified as needed based on Judy progress and prognosis. Unfortunately, Judy has not yet attained her original goals. However, she has made tremendous progress in her general outlook on life and her acceptance of her limitations. Judy attributes her progress to the positivity of her physical therapist, Usman, his encouragement, and his ability to encourage her past her own self-development limitations. When first coming to the Savoy, Judy was bedridden and often did not want to leave her bed or room. Over time, through the encouragement of our nursing staff and her team of therapists, Judy now enjoys leaving her room to participate in bingo and blackjack. Judy is proud of her current winning streak and her ability to win money.
There is currently no discharge date for Judy. Judy noted how happy she was to be at the Savoy and expressed her feelings of gratitude for the staff who had supported her through the traumatic amputation. The staff at the Savoy will continue to work with Judy and encourage her continued progress. We are so happy to have Judy at the Savoy, as her warm and positive personality has made her a beloved member of the Savoy family. Wishing Judy continued progress and success.
