Details of Experience:
Reece H. was admitted to the Savoy on 2/13/2026 after having total left knee replacement surgery at Holy Cross Medical Center. Reece came to the Savoy looking to build strength and improve use of his left knee while maintaining daily therapy sessions. Reece is a very active 81-year-old man, and he was looking to build up his strength to be able to continue his independent lifestyle.
When Reece was admitted to the Savoy, it had not been his first time in the facility. He had previously visited the facility to see friends who were there for rehab. Reece had not seen the facility since it underwent renovations, and he was very impressed by the facilities. Reece also noted that he was instantly impressed by how “wonderful” and “devoted” the entire staff is. He was impressed not just by his own therapist, whom he holds in high regard, but also by all the staff members he interacted with throughout his first week and his total stay at The Savoy.
Reece came with the goal of regaining full use of his new left knee and learning long-term care skills to maintain strength and mobility. He worked with an occupational and physical therapist two times a day and felt his therapy plan was effective and successful. He felt his therapists all really understood his limitations and needs and readjusted sessions and goals to meet his individual needs.
Going into his final week in the community, Reese felt he was 90 percent recovered from the surgery, only feeling hesitant with the independent use of stairs. Reese and his therapists focused on stairs together with him until he was discharged on 3/1/2026. Reese was a bright light in our community, with his youthful disposition and positive outlook on life. We wish him well on his discharge and can’t wait for him to visit.
We wish him well as he continues on his healthcare journey.
